Walt Disney World in the fall is so magical. While any Disney trip you book will be wonderful, I’m going to share why you should spend your fall break at Walt Disney World!
For a Disney fan, there is no better place on the planet than Disney World. And if you love all that Autumn has to offer, you need to spend your fall break at Walt Disney World! There is no shortage of festive fall fun at Disney World in the fall. And, depending on when you go, you just might catch holiday happenings too! That’s why I love Disney in the fall so much, there’s a little something for everyone.
So, whether you’re a pumpkin spice and everything nice kind of person or a holiday lights junkie, you can plan your fall break accordingly. And if you can swing it, maybe you can even pay Walt Disney World a visit in early fall AND late fall. That might be overkill for some, but not for us Disney fanatics. Haha! Seriously though, even if you just plan one Disney trip this year, any time in the fall is a good time to go! So, let’s talk about what to do at Walt Disney World in the fall, shall we?
Let me start by saying that if you’re less Halloween focused and more Christmas inclined, plan your trip for late November. But if Jack Skellington is your spirit character, read on for why you should visit earlier in the season.
Top 5 Reasons to Visit Walt Disney World in the Fall
- First, please spend at least a day at the Magic Kingdom. The fall decorations can’t be beaten! And the fall treats are pretty darn delicious too. But then again, I’m convinced that Fall and pumpkin-spiced everything is in an eternal love affair. Haha! I have to admit that I always stop for a Pumpkin Spice Latte at the Starbucks on Main Street. I know I can have one anywhere, but it just tastes better at Disney. And I follow that up with a large and in charge Halloween cinnamon roll. Mmmm!
- Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. It’s more than worth the extra money! Trust me. Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party features the not to be missed Boo-to-You Parade, the Hocus Pocus Spelltacular show, themed dance parties, and trick-or-treating, but my absolute favorite feature of the Halloween Party is the special ride overlays. Both Disneyland and Disney World have ride overlays that are Halloween themed and aside from the Haunted Mansion overlay, these special features are only available at the Halloween Parties. If you are a Disney snack fanatic, then Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party will please your taste buds as well! Every year Disney parks release brand new treats. The Not-So-Poison Apple Cupcake was a favorite of mine last year!
- Not a big fan of Halloween or staying up late? Don’t you worry! Disney also has the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot. My favorite part of Epcot is wandering around the International Gateway reminiscing about the different international adventures that we have had over the years. The Epcot Food and Wine Festival brings together this nostalgia with amazing food as well. The Food and Wine Festival has delicious food & beverage (not just wine) pairings, but there are also culinary demos, and your littles can even make candy sushi rolls!
- The weather in Orlando and Anaheim is perfect for a Disney vacation in the Fall. The Summer heat can be so draining that even lounging by the pool can feel unbearable, but in early Fall you can get a gentle breeze and truly enjoy your resort. Now, this great weather does come with a caveat when it comes to Orlando. September through early November is rainy season in Orlando. Typically, this means a once a day downpour, but it can also mean days that it rains all day. Be sure that you are prepared with ponchos so that you can keep the magic going.
- If you live in an area where you don’t get a chance to experience the beauty of Fall foliage, never fear, Disney has you covered. Once Fall season is in full-effect Disney brings out the Fall foliage and giant pumpkins to help set the mood! If you love the decorations in the Magic Kingdom, be sure to set aside some time to head to Disney Springs. Just like at Christmas, they have some fabulously festive decorations and tastier seasonal treats to offer. Our family likes to go there on the days we feel like leaving the parks a little early. You can still fit in plenty of Disney fun and it’s a nice change of pace.
