Our first stop on our Quest around the World brought us to Beijing, China! After a 14+ hour flight from Seattle, a 3-hour train ride from Shanghai, and sightseeing the Kerry Hotel was the perfect place to unwind and recuperate.

The Kerry Hotel is a 5-star property located in the heart of Beijing and is the perfect place for families traveling with children, especially those that are jet-lagged. From the moment we were greeted as we entered the lobby of the Kerry Hotel, we knew that we had chosen the perfect place for rest, relaxation, and a 5-star experience.
Here are 5 reasons why the Kerry Hotel should be your choice for accommodations when visiting Beijing with kids:
Table of Contents
1. Personalized service & impeccable attention to detail.

Some hotels and resorts can leave you feeling as though you are merely a number in a parade of check-ins and check-outs, but that was not the case at the Kerry Hotel. Each of the staff we encountered was quick to greet us with a warm smile and even high fives for Roo. I have said this many times before, and I will continue to state how important it is for traveling families like ours that our children are seen and embraced, not just tolerated.
2. A Suite Retreat

Family Suite how did we love thee? Let me count the ways! The personalization and attention to detail from Kerry Hotel did not end when it came to services within the hotel facilities; our suite was the hub of personalization! Forget the sugar plums, our family suite was what those sweet children were dreaming of in โTwas the Night Before Christmasโ! As we rounded the corner from the elevator to our suite, Roo noticed the decorations on the door, which I quickly dismissed as being someoneโs celebratory decorations. A quick glance at our Golden Circle cards quickly informed me that that beautifully decorated door actually belonged to us. At the same moment, I made this realization Roo spotted her name on the door and then almost knocked me over in excitement to see what treasures awaited her behind the door.
As the lock clicked and I turned the handle I wish that time could have frozen so that I could forever bask in the glow that spread across my sweet girlโs face. In that moment, it didnโt matter that she had just been on a plane for over half a day, she was nearly frozen from the Beijing cold, or that she was near the point of a meltdown. The squeal of sheer delight that emitted from her conveyed that she felt loved, welcomed, and at home! The Kerry Hotel had thought of everything we needed for our stay, but they kept the girls at the forefront when they prepared our Club Premier Suite.

They provided the girls with a fun and interactive play area complete with a play kitchen (and all the play food) and an array of other age-appropriate toys for both girls. The in-room tent gave Roo a haven to read, play, or just be alone. She declared as soon as she entered the room that she would be sleeping in the tent for the duration of the stay.
Typically when we stay at a hotel we have to ask at check-in for the hotel to provide a crib/pack-n-play for Lightning Bug, but not here at the Kerry Hotel. They took note that we were traveling with an infant and had the most beautiful hotel crib set up in the room right next to our bed.

Adults, donโt worry, all of this lavishing provided for the kids was there for us as well. After taking a moment to truly appreciate all of the hard work the Kerry Hotel staff had put in for our girls we began to look around and noticed they didnโt leave us out. There was an assortment of snacks ranging from healthy fruit choices to an entire chocolate display complete with chocolate covered strawberries! Our spacious King sized-bed with the sweeping views of the Beijing skyline, plush robes, and slippers instantly relaxed us.
As a younger traveler, I used to wonder if my accommodations would be near the party spots in town but as I have gotten older and had children my priorities have shifted into questions about the bed in my accommodations and more importantly the bathroom. As I opened the grand sliding doors to our luxurious marble bathroom I almost imitated the Roo squeal; the bathroom had everything we needed and more! I wish there was a nicer word for a bathroom because that would be the word I would reserve for bathrooms like this.

The vanity area was large enough for all of us to be at the sink at the same time and it provided more than the standard โhotel toiletries,โ there were child-specific products, a stool for Roo to reach the sink and a faucet extender so that she can wash her hands independently. The mirror even had a secret TV feature with a digital clock in case you need your morning news fix as you get ready for the day.
When traveling as a family, things like separate bath and shower can make or break your day, especially when trying out new cuisine. The toilet at the Kerry Hotel was fabulous providing the luxury of a bidet without the overcomplicated and unnecessary buttons.
3. The Club Lounge

The Kerry Hotel has a saying that โthe more you travel, the more lifeโs little luxuries become absolute necessities,โ as a traveling family this resonates so deeply with us. A higher standard for our accommodations that accompanies unparalleled service and a bevy of amenities is a requirement for our family. This is where Club access comes in. The Club is so much more than a place, as it is a state of mind. At the Kerry Hotel, the Golden Circle grants you access to lounge facilities which include reliable broadband internet access, board games, beverages throughout the day, and an exclusive selection of cocktails and appetizers every evening.

The Club Lounge allowed for us to start the day every day in peace and tranquility, in a private venue complete with every breakfast item you could think of and made-to-eggs and other delectable breakfast items. After a long day of exploring and a quick rest, we would head to the Lounge for the evening reception where not only the adults were welcome, but our girls were always welcomed with a smile. After the first day, they knew exactly what she wanted to drink and were eager to ask her about her adventures for the day. ย ย ย

After enjoying all of the delicious dining options that the Kerry Hotel offers fitness may be at the forefront of your mind. Well, no need to think too hard about how to get in your workout, Kerry Sports to the rescue! I canโt even call the Kerry Hotelโs fitness facility a gym as that seems almost blasphemous, it is a premier health and wellness center, that offers a complete fitness experience. The gym portion of the fitness center is open 24 hours a day, so no matter what time zone your brain is on, your body can get those miles or weight lifting in. There is also a fitness studio that offers over 30 group classes throughout the week. Their swimming facilities are unmatched with a 35-meter lap swimming pool, a childrenโs wading pool, and locker room with a Jacuzzi.
5. Mompreneurs need to Handle their Business too!
Traveling the world doesnโt mean a vacation for me. I still have a business to run which means having a hotel where all of my business needs met and exceeded helps me feel like I can conquer the world! Our premier suite at the Kerry Hotel was equipped with an executive writing desk and a multi-socket electronic panel for keeping all of my devices and camera equipment fully charged. If my business needs were more extensive I had a Rolodex of business options at my fingertips to meet my needs. The Kerry Hotel offersย a complete a complete business center with copy/print/scan/fax capabilities, use of the in-house MacBook or iPad, and my club benefits provided me with the use of a private meeting room for up to 10 people with coffee and tea service included. Talk about productivity!
