Our Quest for November (and potentially last Quest before the big trip), brought us to Sunny Southern California! Our goal was to experience two of the most popular theme parks in Southern California, but we were met with the dilemma of where to stay.
When visiting Southern California, our home base is typically close to Disneyland park, but because we were splitting this visit in 2 we decided to give the Buena Park area a try!

We made the leap for Knott’s Berry Farm to be our home base for the week, and we think that it is a great hotel for families!
Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel is located in Buena Park, California and sits directly next to its theme park Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park. In addition to being walking distance to the park, it also features an array of amenities such as an on-site restaurant, pool, splash zone, and an entire wing dedicated to Snoopy! The hotel is convenient for travelers who are also visiting local attractions such as Soak City, Medieval Times, or the Pirates show.

Camp Snoopy Room

We decided to upgrade from the standard room to the Camp Snoopy wing. It features two Queen-sized beds, Camp Snoopy décor (including paw print carpet), and a personal tuck-in service from Snoopy each night. The room was large which gave us a lot of room to spread out, and it also easily accommodated the pack-n-play for Lightning Bug.
What We Liked about our Stay
The staff at Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel are hands-down some of the friendliest people we have encountered on our travels. We arrived late in the evening, and after a long day of travel, we were exhausted and ready for bed. The representative who checked us in was thorough and friendly, and the manager stepped in to make sure that we had an awesome check-in experience. They went out of their way to make sure that we were able to get a room to suit our family’s needs, and throughout our stay, they always greeted us and made conversation. In a hotel that has over 300 rooms personalized service like this is really great.

The hotel is less than a 6-minute walk to the turnstiles of the park which made the morning very easy. On the way back to the hotel you can even stop and grab some famous Mrs. Knott’s Fried Chicken, or grab a sweet treat from the bakery.

We stayed in the Camp Snoopy wing of the hotel and for families who are considering it, I think that it is a nice splurge for your little ones. The entire wing is dedicated to Snoopy and the Peanuts gang with characters lining the hallway, but the best part is the nightly visit from Snoopy. Each night between 8-8:30 pm Snoopy himself arrives at your door, spends time with your child, and then tucks them into bed! As with most characters, Snoopy doesn’t talk, but what he doesn’t say in words he definitely makes up in gestures. Roo was so excited for him to visit, and if you are staying in the Camp Snoopy wing for more than 1 night you still get to see Snoopy each night!

If personalized visits from Snoopy aren’t your thing, Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel makes sure that you have ample opportunities to meet Snoopy throughout your stay. We were able to spot Snoopy in the lobby of the hotel as well as circling the Amber Waves on-site restaurant.
Knott’s Berry Farm Theme Park and Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel has a commitment to supporting military families which is a big deal for us! During the month of November, both offer deals for families which include FREE admission to the park for the service member and discounts on the hotel accommodations. Thanks to the military deal our parking was complimentary which was a great cost saving!
What could be improved?
Overall, Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel is a great hotel, but there are a few touches that could be improved to make it even better. For families opting to upgrade to the Camp Snoopy experience, it is best to think about the experience as you would any other character experience. Sometimes you pay a premium price for an experience, but you may have to settle for some things that are less than what you expected. While the Camp Snoopy rooms are branded very cute and feature Snoopy and Woodstock decorations, the rest of the room is pretty basic. The bathroom area was our biggest gripe, as it was dated, and could use a significant update.

The room was positioned in a way that allowed us to hear every time the toilet from the room above us flushed the toilet or took a shower, which was a bit of an annoyance at night.
The other important thing to note for larger families is that most rooms cannot accommodate rollaway beds, so you may need to book connecting rooms. I am not sure, however, if this is an option the Camp Snoopy floor.
Another thing to note, that wasn’t an annoyance to me, but maybe for some other people, is that there is a significant lack of useable outlets in the room, so you should bring a power strip.
Verdict?

If you are already going to be in Buena Park area and will be visiting Knott’s Berry Farm theme park staying at the Knott’s Berry Farm Hotel, but to also upgrading to the Camp Snoopy wing is a great idea! As a military family, be sure to plan your trip in November to take advantage of the awesome military deals they have going on at both the theme park and the hotel.
